Blogger Highlight: The Foodie Runner’s Pro 2000 Review
Hi everyone – happy Monday!
I am so excited for today’s post because I get to share all about my ProForm Pro 2000 Treadmill and how it’s helped me achieve some of my recent running successes!
When I first ran on my Pro 2000, I was struck by two things; how quiet it was and how comfortable it was to run on. The Pro 2000 treadmill is built with precision engineering which means that both the motor and the deck are extremely quiet. This is important in our household because most of my treadmill runs go down early in the morning or during nap time when my 14 month-old daughter is sleeping. The ProForm Pro 2000 is so comfortable to run on because of the ProShox™ Cushioning. This shock absorption system is especially great when I have to do a long run on the treadmill since it reduces the impact of each stride. Since the impact is reduced, I don’t finish each run feeling extremely tired and beat up, which means I can continue to train harder day after day!
When I was looking at treadmills, the most important thing to me was that the treadmill would help me reach my running goals. Since I knew I would be doing workouts on the treadmill, in addition to everyday easy runs, it was necessary for the treadmill to be capable of reaching a top speed of 12 mph (so many treadmills stop at 10 mph, which is slower than many of my workouts are prescribed at). Not only does the Pro 2000 go up to 12 mph, but it handles the upper range of its speed well. Even faster paces, the ProForm treadmill feels really sturdy- no shaking or jostling here! I also have to give a shout out to the built in fan because it is really powerful, and during those faster workouts, it is still able to cool me down.
I am currently training for the California International Marathon, which is a net downhill course. The city that I live in has a lot of rolling hills in it, so it is not the ideal location to get in a downhill long run or two to simulate race day. In my early 20s, I probably would have driven out of town to find the perfect downhill route for my long run, but as a mom, I don’t have the time for that. Luckily for me during this training cycle, the Pro 2000 can be set to a negative incline (down to -3%), which means I can do my downhill long runs right at home! I’ve already gotten a 14-mile long run on the treadmill and I’m planning to do a few more over the course of the remaining 12 weeks before race day.
Overall, I’m loving my ProForm Pro 2000 Treadmill! As a full-time workout mom, it’s helped me to continue training and racing at a high level while ensuring that my quality time with my family hasn’t been negatively affected. Over the past few months there have been many times that I would have had to skip my run or workout if it wasn’t for this treadmill. One day, in particular, I had to be at work at 5:45 am, it was 110ᵒ outside during my break at work when I could have possibly gotten my workout in and from daycare pick up until bedtime, I was soaking up the few hours I had with my daughter. Thanks to my Pro 2000, I was able to sneak in my workout between bedtime and when my husband got home from work. This ensured that I was able to get quality time with both my daughter and have dinner with my husband.
These “might have been missed” workouts have been paying off, especially in my race results – I recently ran a 1-minute personal best in the half marathon and yesterday I won a local 10K!
All in all, I am thankful for my ProForm Pro 2000 Treadmill, and what it has been enabling me to accomplish. I am so glad that I get to show my daughter that you can continue pursuing your passions when you’re a mom!”
