6 self-care methods to (finally) take care of myself
Taking care of myself is my latest resolution. But this goal is still very new to me, and, between my
personal and family obligations, I’m having a hard time figuring out where to start. Here are 6 ways
to put my well-being first and some useful resources to get me started. My new self-care routines
will soon become an essential part of my daily life!
Enrich my mind and find inspiration (reading, podcasts and more)
I make time and space for myself: a little bubble where I shut out the world to nurture my
imagination, learn new things and recharge my batteries. This can be rereading my favourite novel,
watching a series or listening to an album that moves me.
● My challenge: Find a podcast, blog post or inspirational piece of reading every week.
● My self-care kit to get started: I choose YouTube channels or blogs that I like and create a
reading list for when I have a few minutes to myself.
● Inspiration from the #ProformTeam: Influencers: #FeelGood Accounts to Follow On Social
Networks
● The iFIT boost: In the “Go ahead and dream about the future” Ted Talk, science fiction author
Charlie Jane Anders takes me on a journey of the challenges that the future may hold.
Go for a walk in the fresh air
There’s nothing like a walk in the great outdoors to reconnect with your senses. If the weather
doesn’t cooperate, there’s nothing to stop me from escaping on my treadmill by selecting an
immersive video filmed on the other side of the world from the iFIT library.
● My challenge: I count my steps over a day with a pedometer (my smartphone is all I need),
and I improve my result every day.
● My self-care kit to get started: A pair of trainers and a comfortable outfit.
● Inspiration from the #ProformTeam: Doing sport? It’s so easy, just walk!
● iFIT tip: Walk in Dillingham Ranch coconut grove amid the beautiful landscape of Oahu,
Hawaii. A guaranteed change of scenery!
Practise self-massage
In the office, after the shower, after my workout, or before I go to sleep, I relax by practising self-
massage.
● My challenge: I adopt lymphatic brushing.
● My self-care kit to get me started: a soft brush, which I run over every part of my body,
starting from the feet up. I can also use massage rollers.

● iFIT tip: Jeni DelPozo teaches me how to relax my muscles in the How to use a vibrating
massage roller video.
Meditate
Meditation is one of the most effective strategies for refocusing on your feelings and rediscovering
what you really want.
● My challenge: Meditate for 5 minutes a day.
● My self-care kit to get started: A quiet place is enough. I can also use headphones.

● iFIT tip: The last meditation session of the Mindfulness Walk in Costa Rica series is on Playa
Mansita and is about gratitude.
Say no and give myself the freedom to change my mind at any time
I gain self-confidence and learn to say “no” or “I’ll take time to think about it” more often to avoid
getting into unwanted situations.
● My challenge: I list the little things I can remove from my daily life and redefine what can be
expected of me more clearly.
● My self-care kit to get started: I create some sample phrases for myself so that I have the
right words and arguments in mind when I decline a proposal.
● Inspiration from the #ProformTeam: I put a stop to self-criticism in 10 steps: a focus on self-
esteem.
● iFIT Tip: I’m following Coach Jarrod Spencer to Pennsylvania for the 3rd session of the Spirit
of an Athlete series to discover new ways to improve my confidence.
Spend time on myself
Physical activity helps me improve my self-esteem, have the energy to do the things I love and sleep
better.
● My challenge: I find 5 minutes, 5 times a week, to exercise. Each week I add one minute to
my routine.
● My self-care kit to get started: The only must-have to get started is the yoga mat, but I’ll soon
get more ideas as I practice!
● Inspiration from the #ProformTeam: Mental and Physical Health: All About the Benefits of
Exercise, and No time for exercise? No problem!
● The iFIT boost: Quick total body, full-body workouts in less than 20 minutes to learn the
basics.
